I work with performance, textiles, and sculpture. A central pillar of my artistic practice is the project A Room Without a Door, a series of outdoor performance works in which I use plant-dyed silk as a central prop. By using the body and the silk as a kind of “voice” or “medium,” I seek to highlight how nature can offer us a sense of calm, concentration, and presence.

By observing how the silk responds to its natural surroundings, I have become more attentive to nuances I previously overlooked. Different places have their own distinct character; an old-growth forest can feel dark and subdued, while a clear-cut area can appear dystopian and bare.

I hope this experience can teach us that we do not stand outside nature, but are part of its diversity—a diversity that must be protected rather than built over.
